LEARNING THROUGH PLAY
At OLHC we have set up a room for creative play. It is complete with a "kitchen, a teaching area, dress ups, sand play, a shop, a bedroom, a farm space, puppets and an office." These interactive areas will change and evolve.
Some assumptions underlying the play-based approach to learning
  •  Children construct their knowledge in a predictable sequence.
  • Their interests and natural curiosity motivate learning.
  • They learn through: social interaction; experimentation and manipulation; constructive error; and play.
